A Heritage of Faith

Nathan and I are heading back to MD for Palm Sunday. It will be wonderful to see Gram and Grandaddy and introduce Caleb to all of his extended family. He has lots of great aunts and uncles and cousins that can't wait to meet him.

We had thought about going home for Easter, but our responsibilities at Grace Point make it hard to be away for one of our biggest Sundays of the year. This has been a difficult thing since we moved out here because Christmas and Easter are huge days at Grace Point (as at any other church) and we have additional services and work hard to bring those who may have never stepped foot in a church or those who only come on the "big" days to the services. Hear me when I say this - we don't do this to pat ourselves on the back or to say "look how many people we had". We do this for the simple reason that people need to hear the truth of who Jesus Christ is. Plain and Simple. We are all in need of a Savior.

I was talking to my Dad today and he said that he appreciates our commitment to GP and to the gospel and that we understand the importance of being here on Easter Sunday. What a blessing! We have friends here who's parents aren't as understanding and they struggle with trying to explain why they do what they do and why they can't always be "home" when they would like to. Now I know my parents don't love the fact that we are on the other side of the country...especially with their first grandson. And while the Air Force was the means that God used to bring us out here, our service to Him through Grace Point is the reason we are here. Our parents completely support us even when that means we can't see them as often or for as long as we would like because they know our choices are made

Nathan and I are so thankful that we have both have parents who have taught us by example what it means to be a Christ follower and to be a servant. We appreciate the fact that are parents are understanding that our choices are not made because we don't want to see them, but because we want to see the Kingdom advanced.

Thanks Dad, Mom, Mark & Ann. We love you!
